From the government's perspective, the COVID-19 pandemic should be over. Thanks in large part to the Trump administration, U.S. companies developed effective vaccines in record time, and those vaccines are available to all Americans free of charge. If you want to get protected, you have the freedom and ability to do so. If you don't, that's your decision, and the federal government shouldn't have any say in the matter. President Joe Biden sees things differently. His administration just announced a massive new slate of regulations and policies designed to 'protect' Americans against COVID-19 this winter. They're using the Omicron variant as their excuse even though this variant has not been shown to be any more deadly than previous strains. That's according to the South African doctor who discovered the strain. She said she's 'stunned' at the international panic over the variant because it has not proven to be a threat to public health. That's not stopping Joe Biden! His nine-part plan, announced today, includes harassing Americans to get a booster shot via a 'public education' campaign, forcing insurance companies to pay for at-home testing, opening 'family vaccination clinics,' and a host of other policies and mandates. Here are a few of the worst: 'Requiring Medicaid to pay health care providers to talk to families about getting their kids vaccinated: Increasing COVID-19 vaccinations and centering equity in COVID-19 vaccinations requires meeting our hardest-hit and highest-risk communities where they are with information from trusted sources. To help parents get their questions answered and make informed decisions about COVID-19 vaccination for their children, all Medicaid programs will pay health care providers to talk to parents about the importance of kids’ vaccination.' 'Extending the requirement to wear a mask on airplanes, rail travel, and public transportation: The Administration will continue to require masking during international or other public travel – as well as in transportation hubs such as airports or indoor bus terminals – through March 18 as we continue to battle COVID-19 this winter.' 'Calling on businesses to move forward with vaccination or testing programs: The President will call on businesses to move forward expeditiously with requiring their workers to get vaccinated or tested weekly. This is especially important given the Omicron variant.' 'Continued Commitment to Global Vaccination Efforts: Today, the President will reaffirm his commitment to help vaccinate the globe, and call on other countries to do the same to combat this pandemic globally and help prevent the development of new variants.' Click here to read Biden's full 'plan.' All of this will be paid for by you, the American taxpayer. Every at-home test, every vaccine given to a six-year-old, every commercial urging 35-year-olds to get a booster -- that's all money out of your pocket. In other words, the Biden administration is using the Omicron variant as an excuse to expand its power and forcing us to pay for it. We can't let this stand. In the short-term, we must demand that our state and local officials refuse to comply with these edicts from on high. In the long-term, we must call and convene a Convention of States. An Article V Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose constitutional amendments. These amendments can do three things: Limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government (including the president) Limit the terms of office for federal officials Limit the ability of Congress and the president to spend and waste our hard-earned money With this complete package of amendments in place (once ratified by 38 states), the president will no longer have the authority or the money to leverage a national crisis to expand his power. His ability to act in any area, not just healthcare, will be strictly limited, and those decisions will revert back to where they belong: entirely with the people and the states.
