Afghanistan - A complete waste of time, money and lives.

Some people compare our loss in Afghanistan with our loss in Vietnam. They are both losses, of course, but not for the same reasons. In Vietnam, we were up against our own politicians who thought they knew better about fighting a war then our own Generals did and also up against both the North Vietnamese (on the ground) and the Russians (in the sky). In Afghanistan, we were up against Al Qaeda and the Taliban but mostly up against their own troops and politicians that were really just sucking money from the USA while they waited for us to leave some day and they knew that the Taliban would take over again. That's why you just saw them all give up without a fight and actually participated in the demise of their country once again. That part of the world that is driven more by theocracy than by democracy and representative government will never come out of the dark, stone ages. If we wanted to we could have wiped them both off the face of the earth. So much for being the nice guy. NO country will ever come to their aid again. They have to do it themselves or they must accept what they get from the likes of the Talban. Good riddens!
